The thimble clevis serves as an interface fitting to connect the guy grip to the dead-end insulator or U clevis. Its unique design makes it highly versatile and widely used in applications such as pole lines, overhead lines, and transmission tower lines.
This fitting is essential for connecting dead-end or suspension clamps to various tower hardware. FERR manufactures thimble clevises in a range of sizes and load capacities to suit diverse needs.
Constructed from hot-dip galvanized cast iron or formed steel, thimble clevises are available in various structures. They feature a smooth internal contour designed to minimize stress concentration on the guy grip loop, ensuring optimal performance. The complete set typically includes a cast thimble clevis body along with a bolt and nut, which secure the U clevis and ball socket during installation.
To accommodate different spans for towers or poles, thimble clevises are offered with load ratings of 40kN, 70kN, 120kN, and 160kN, making them compatible with preformed tension clamps. In cases where the existing structures do not meet specific requirements, FERR can customize thimble clevises based on provided drawings or specifications.
