Insulator String

Insulator strings are composed of disc-shaped insulators made from materials like glass, porcelain, or polymer, designed to provide electrical insulation and mechanical support. When these strings are positioned horizontally, they are referred to as string insulators and are commonly employed as dead-end insulators.

FERR Insulator Strings represent modular assemblies tailored for high-voltage transmission lines. These units combine multiple suspension or tension insulators, ensuring proper insulation and mechanical integrity, with voltage configurations adaptable up to 765kV.

String insulators are specifically designed to handle substantial tensile loads exerted by conductors at dead ends or sharp bends in transmission lines. To fulfill their role effectively, they require both robust mechanical strength and high insulating resistance.

Insulator fittings, including small components such as clamps and hardware, accompany insulators to form complete assemblies. A full insulator string typically comprises disc insulators, suspension clamps, tension clamps, and auxiliary fittings.

For lower voltage applications, like distribution lines carrying less than 11kV, shackle insulators can replace string insulators to meet operational requirements.

In high-voltage transmission scenarios, insulators strings are indispensable. The number of disc insulators integrated into a string determines the voltage capacity the assembly can handle. For extreme tensile demands, multiple insulator strings may be deployed to ensure reliable performance and enhanced safety.
