Strand Splice, sometimes referred to by the same name, serves as a key solution for repairing damaged guy wires or messenger cables by linking multiple sections. These splice connectors offer a cost-effective means of restoration, delivering exceptional load-bearing capacity along with long-term reliability.
The Strand Splice developed by FERR is a preformed splice specifically designed to join two lengths of guy strand, messenger cable, or OPGW. It effectively reestablishes both full mechanical and electrical continuity.
Various types of splice connectors—automatic and compression—are available to cater to diverse applications. Compression splices can be categorized as full tension, minimum tension, or partial tension options. Additionally, they come in nylon-insulated versions and repair sleeves for specific uses.
Automatic splicers are manufactured from assorted materials. Ensuring compatibility between the splice connector and the cable’s basic material is crucial. This compatibility guarantees that the connector’s holding strength matches the rated breaking strength of the strand.
The primary role of splice connectors is to restore the full rated breaking strength of the strand when properly centered over the damaged area of the guy wire or messenger cable.
